(KATAKAMI / KREMLIN.RU)  Dmitry Medvedev thanked the Turkish leadership and people for their help and support in the disaster relief efforts in Russia.

President Medvedev also said that Russia is ready to provide any necessary assistance in fighting forest fires in western Turkey.

Mr Gul thanked Mr Medvedev for this offer and noted that Turkey knows its Russian friends are always ready to come to Turkey’s aid. Both leaders underlined that this mutual solidarity reflects the genuine strategic partnership that exists between the two countries.

The two presidents also discussed implementation of decisions reached during Mr Medvedev’s official visit to Turkey in May 2010, and exchanged views on developments in the Trans-Caucasus region and coordinating Russian and Turkish efforts to promote peace and stability in this region.  (*)
